Arizona is one of the most beautiful states throughout the United States that is full of eventful cities.
Two fascinating cities in Arizona are Avondale and Phoenix. Both cities hold many different social events that welcome family and friends all around the valley to come and have an amazing time.
In the city of Avondale there are many different events going on but one of the most popular event is held at the Avondale Public Library, Soulful Expressions. Soulful Expressions was founded by a group of teens throughout the Avondale community.
Wintana Yohannes is one of the brilliant minds behind the creation of Soulful Expressions she mentions, “In the making of this event we just wanted a safe place where people can come perform and not be judged. It also gives them a place to show people their amazing talents.”
It is an open mic night for poets, comedians, and musicians. These events allow teenagers as well as adults to get together and enjoy the talents that people throughout the community have to share. Being able to listen to all different types of poetry as well as listening to the local bands that are on the rise on Saturday evenings is the ideal Saturday night. Soulful Expressions is held once a month on every second Saturday and admission is free.
First Friday is also an event that holds many different talents. This event that takes place in downtown Phoenix every first Friday of the month. Essentially it is a street you walk down, many people displaying art, jewelry, and homemade/handmade crafts. There’s live bands set up on the side of the street along with people painting, you are allowed to watch someone work their magic!
A faithful First Friday attender, Karina Rosario says, “I think First Friday is an awesome event that phoenix had put together, it really fun watching and seeing what people can do and how creative their minds can see. Overall there’s many to see and eat!”
There are plenty things to do around town that consist of nothing more than with family and friends, good vibes, music, and food!
