Phoenix Volunteers are Feeling the Bern

The presidential race is running at high speed and supporters of all presidential candidates are doing what they can to get their chosen candidate elected.

This last Monday, supporters of Bernie Sanders came down to PDA’s We Want Bernie’s office to volunteer and help get his name out there.

Volunteers spent the hours between 5 and 7 phone banking, which, in other words, is calling possible future Bernie voters to help their movement in spreading the word about Bernie Sanders and getting him elected.

The office is located at an art gallery in downtown Phoenix, and although it seems like it might be out of place for a political office, once inside, people can feel that there is both a professional, yet homey atmosphere. Those who are willing to help can volunteer at the office Mondays through Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Fridays 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

People willing to volunteer have the option to not only partake in phone banking, but also pass out flyers and give information at events such as festivals, the state fair, and downtown’s own First Friday.

Robert Keiser, one of the fundamental volunteers at the office, is very dedicated to promoting and spreading awareness about Sanders’ campaign.

When asked about what Bernie Sanders’ campaign was all about, he replied “It’s about us, it’s about the people, really.”
