It was a warm summer night

The fright of losing you was in my sight

The drugs that were taking you away

The only thing I could do was pray

You lay in the bed suffering

I’m asking God why,

Why did he have to choose you to leave this

Earth that you called home

A year ago you finally left me

My heart broken, as if someone has

Grabbed a hammer and pounded it

Against my chest shattering it to

A thousand pieces like shards of glass

My life empty now

Wishing you were here with me just so

I can see your face one more time

To you I write this poem
