As you approach the red light in your car waiting for the light to turn green little do you know that the driver behind you is coming 65 MPH and not slowing down because they’re texting and not paying attention to the road. BAMMMM!!! Next thing you know, you wake up in a hospital three weeks later with severe injuries . The driver is dead, but all this wouldn’t have happened if the driver wasn’t texting while driving.

The majority of drivers that text while driving are teenagers. About 1.6 million car accidents happen each year. Junior driver Raheem Oliver says “I assume my responsibility that I do text and drive and I know that its not safe to and that it does cause a lot of car accidents”. The fact that at least most teenagers know they’re doing wrong by texting while driving and still do it is a huge concern.

What could a crash really cause? Junior Elijah Hendrix says ” I personally think a text isn’t worth it because it causes a lot of accidents and if you die your gonna cause your family a lot of pain”. About 1,161 teens die each year because of texting while driving. Imagine all the pain families go through each year because of their child.

We need to stop this now! But how can we even prevent from teens texting and driving? Junior Mario Alonzo says ” Put your phone on silent and pay attention to the road”. But thats not enough because technology has really improved so now mostly all the teenagers have snapchat or any other app. Junior Raheem Oliver says” I know snapchatting and driving is bad but I have about 10-20 friends that also do it”.

Teens listen up, do you really think a text is worth dying? Just take a moment and process that deep down. Stop before it takes someone else life .
