Suicide+Awareness%3A+Are+You+Aware%3F

AVONDALE– Suicide is a spreading epidemic and many people with mental illness will often resort to this if they don’t have the proper help or resources to help them through the darkness. In 2018 suicide was actually the second leading cause of death in the united states of America with a rate of 14 suicides in ages 10 between 25. As you can see, teens are a big part of this.

“The world should bring this into the spotlight because suicide is a really big problem that needs to be dealt with as carefully as possible,” said Roman Sierra.

This can be for many different reasons such as mental illness and many other things. Teens who commit suicide do it for many different reasons such as they have problems and they haven’t got help with them or they need help with them know who to contact for it. Also, the U.S. alone teen suicide rates are the highest in the world.

“One of my friends almost committed suicide because of bullying and they suffered from depression and they didn’t go get any help,” said Owen Bowe.

Teens who suffer from mental illness that have thoughts of suicide are not alone there are many resources you can use and a Lifeline you can call. The number is 602-248-8336 and you can call it 24/7 or text between 3 and 9 p.m. There are many kids who have tried this option and have said that this has helped them through their tough times.

“I know someone that called the teen lifeline because they were going through a tough time and they told me that it helped them when I was starting to go through the same sort of things,” said Sarah Soto.

No matter what you are going through in life there is always a way to help you can go talk to a trusted adult or even call an anonymous line such as the teen life line instead of doing something as drastic as committing suicide.
