Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is a fighting game developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game expands on the previous game’s story and it follows the ending of the actual anime. Allowing the player to relive the Fourth Great Ninja War that unfolded in the show. The game aims to capture the anime & fighting audience and it did so with ease. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4’s new mechanics keep the game fresh and unpredictable. Those mechanics being “Armor Breaking”, “Leader Change”, and all new “Team Ultimate Jutsus”.
IGN says that, “In Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, players around the world will experience the exhilarating adventures of Naruto Uzumaki like never before!”
The game’s story is both a hit and a miss. The story follows the ending of the actual anime and there are some genuine heartfelt moments. But, AI is buggy at times and the cutscenes switch between screenshots with subtitles and CGI cutscenes with shoddy ADR (if changed from the original Japanese dub).
The combat in this game is really good. It’s easy for new players to pick up and learn but difficult enough to master. Thanks to the new “leader change” mechanic, you’re able to switch between characters that you have chosen. Your teammates can also support you when charging your “chakra” (which is the thing that allows you to do “ninjutsus” and “secret techniques”) or attacking your opponent.

The animation quality still seems to be on another level when compared to other licensed games, and the flashy special attacks remain as eye-popping as ever.”
The game has a huge roster of characters. There are over 100 fighters to chose from. Theses characters ranging from the Hidden Leaf Village to members of the Akatsuki. Each character having their own unique ninjutsu and secret technique. And if you choose certain teammates, you’re able to do a team-up secret technique.
GameSpot says, “… [Ultimate Ninja Storm 4] offer[s] a massive roster of characters from across the sprawling Naruto saga and pitting you in one-on-one battles in a free-roaming arena against another ninja.”
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is the epic conclusion to the Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm quadrilogy. The game wraps up the series quite well, but still allows the current show, “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations”, to add their roster of characters to the game. The character interactions and overall combat keeps the game fun and unique. If you like Naruto, Boruto, or the fighting genre; then this is the game for you.
