FBLA: 3 A Day Food Pantry

Produced and Created by La Joya Link 2017

La Joya Community High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is hosting a food pantry called 3 A Day from April 17-28. The collected food will go to Lobos whose families are food insecure and are in need of food over the weekend.

Some students and their families are fortunate enough to have enough food for 3 meals a day, although some do not have the means to do so. 42.2 million Americans lived in food insecure households, including 29.1 million adults and 13.1 children. [feedingamerica.org]

FBLA has organized a school-wide food pantry in which students can donate canned and packaged food such as rice, pasta, pasta sauce and top ramen. The collected food then goes to a Lobo in need.

“…it’s about helping our community and making it a better place.” Mars Torres, a member of FBLA said.

Some teachers have taken initiative to host competitions between their classes to whom can collect the most. FBLA also hosted a small drawing this past week to anyone who has donated, contending gift cards to Chipotle, Burger King, etc.

“I think the food pantry is one of our best projects so far because it’s benefiting our own students and their families.” Torres said.

Food donations can be received in Ms. Kuehn’s room in room 819 from April 17-28.

So won’t you contribute to the cause, help a fellow Lobo in need.

After all, “For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack.”
