15 years ago today, Death Cab For Cuties own Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello released the album “Give Up” under their project known as “The Postal Service”.

The two brilliant men decided to become a band after Jimmy had Ben featured in the song “ (This is) the Dream of Evan and Chan” from the DNTEL album, “Life is Full of Possibilities”. After that song, the two men felt chemistry along the way and due to Ben Gibbard being with his Death Cab for Cutie, Jimmy and he would send lyrics and melodies so they can make the 2nd most best album from their record label Sub Pop.

Give Up was released in 2003 and it is their only album ever made. The Postal Service was a short term band only to make their album for their purposes and they broke up for what seemed to be forever, but on the 10 year anniversary for the album they reunited and went on tour for their successful album. One of their many accomplishments from their reunion is them playing at the 2013 Coachella festival.

Soon after however, Ben announced that The Postal Service have broken up again and will no longer perform together, so Ben, Jimmy, Jenny, and others all went their separate ways.

Ben is still making music and touring with Death Cab for Cutie gaining love and support from indie kids and adults. Jimmy is still successful and always performs sets with dylinglabs.

Give Up is an album that will always live on as one of the best indie albums of a generation with great hits like “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight” and “Nothing Better”. Many fans have enjoyed and always will enjoy this album and some still wish and hope that a second album can come from them, but sadly we know there will be none for The Postal Service is no more.
