Step into the World of KPOP

Korean Music can be described as a coordinated, colorful, and upbeat rhythm that stays in your head even if you try not to think of it. Example: Chewing Gum by NCT Dream.

Don’t be fooled, not every song and artist in Korean entertainment sing about sunshine and butterflies. Also there is more to K music than just Psy, yes he is a very talented artist, but if you step into the different genres you will come to terms that Korean music has a wide variety of  talented people and also some of the most hardworking musicians aka idols out there. If you don’t know how people become idols here is a quick run through of the process.

1. In order to become an idol, one must go through a series of auditions. If chosen to be in a label/agency such as JYP, YG, SM  etc. the person then becomes a trainee
2. There is no maximum or minimum number of years they may train for and their is also no guarantee they will debut. For example Leader of group “Seventeen” S.Coups, trained for 6 years and finally debuted in 2015.
3. If they are lucky enough to debut, prior to their showcase date they practice day and night (dancing and singing), have strict diets, learn Korean (if from a different country) or some learn English, and barely have any time for sleep. 4. With each debut the group or solo artist develops a concept, it gives them a certain way of dressing and mood to their songs and performances
5. Once the debut rolls around, performers will usually host a showcase were they perform all of their songs off of their mini album
6. The groups or artist will then have appearances on music shows, reality shows, Dramas, and variety shows
7. After a couple of weeks they finish promoting
8. Then after some time the group has a comeback and the cycle begins again

People who train to become idols are very inspiring because they spend years practicing with no assurance they will succeed.

P.S. (Coming from a Kpop fan)- If you decide to slither your way into Kpop , just know there is no escape. In no time you will lose all of your money and dignity. These idols will become the most important people in your life and you will spend night and day on YouTube, V live, and DramaFever.
