AVONDALE- Almost all teens are looking for better ways to improve their bodies. Nowadays, teens always seem to be insecure about themselves and because of these insecurities teens often seem to have trouble with sleeping, aggression, withdrawal, clinical anxiety, and depression.
Here are some tips you may consider using for self-care if you find yourself dealing with any of these issues.
1) Have a healthy breakfast every morning, having a good breakfast every morning is not just to help you lose weight or to look a certain way but it’s more of understanding what your body needs to be nurtured if you listen to what your body wants it is mostly craving nutritions, vitamin-rich foods, and occasionally a cookie!
2) Exercise regularly, at least 30 minutes of physical activity is enough to get your endorphins running around your body and gives some sort of achievement, which is great for self-care
“I work out for 2 hours every day,” said Javier Aguilera.
3) Do some yoga, yoga connects the mind, body, and soul. It is also added to the exercise part that you will need for self-care. Yoga is great for mental health and can help relieve you from stress and anxiety, it gives you time to relax and get in touch with yourself.
4) Socialize with friends or family, it is important to socialize because isolation can cause mental problems, but be careful with who you are socializing with, you don’t want to be around a bad environment because that can cause stress, or anxiety but be around the people whom you love and those who make you laugh or smile. Take this time to be you and get rid of all the negativity.
“Everyday like I be talking to my friends and I always talk to my fam everyday too so like practically every day,” said Luis Sanchez.
5) Sleep, the average person needs at least 7-8 hours of sleep, this gives your body time to take in everything that happened on that day, this is very important for your mental health and for self-care. Try this, tonight instead of going on your phone before bed go to bed 30 minutes earlier than usual and read a book.
“I sleep from 5-6 and I’m only tired if I stay in bed after I’m already awake,” said Diamond Apodaca.
