It all started with the Yeezy wave runner 700 in 2017. After the drops of the Yeezy beluga we have seen major designer brands making their own versions of the bulky dad shoe trend. For example companies like Gucci, Chanel, Versace and Balenciaga. Balenciaga dropped their first version of the “dad shoe” with the Triple S. retailing at about a whopping $700, they were criticized for the bulky look of them, but after all the criticism people were still buying them and went out of stock in a matter of minutes. Following the big success of Balenciaga, Versace set to make a collab with rapper 2 Chainz at the Milan Fashion week. There is firm release date but they are worth to keep your eye on with their flashiness and abnormality. But with all this comes the argument of the flashiness and the price for each shoe. All of the shoes ranging at more than $400 brings the concern of people affording them (even though they’re a designer company for a reason). Current English teacher at La Joya Mr. Anderson, came out on the subject and said “i genuinely cannot care less”. “i hate them, they’re not my type but i can see why people like them”. says current sophomore Roman Vespucci. “the Balenciaga’s are a classic dad shoe, i don’t know why they get so much hate.” Says Julian Ham, freshman at La Joya. With these comments and pricing of the shoe will you be coping any in the next upcoming drops from Supreme and Versace?
