Over the years physical forms of music media has changed for the better and has advanced in quality and easier to access.
Starting all the way back in the 1870s was a early version of the vinyl record also known as the “phonographic cylinder” the iterations of the vinyl record was in 1948 and was made into different sizes depending on the length of the album or song, a older form of music that was called the early stages of “tape” music.
They had their run until the cassette tape was introduced in 1963 this changed the way people could listen on the go with the Sony Walkman and portable cassette players this of course came with other forms of cassettes and tape music, like the 8 track and the micro cassette with this you were able to record your own playlists or mixtapes on a cassette.
The cassette wave lasted for years until the “compact disk” also known as the CD and became quickly the preferred music format being durable and had less cons along with being able to change between songs and being able to press play without needing to flip or rewind a cassette, along with CDs came the ability to play on the go and burn your own songs onto blank CDs but with CDs the cost of buying an album increased from the cassettes.
Then around the same time the MP3 player was released, and it was the start of playing music from a device that could do so much more, with MP3 you could plug it into a computer and upload files of pictures, videos, and your favorite music.
Then came the advancements of phones and streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify you no longer had to worry about changing a disk or flipping a cassette you could just press play and put a phone in your pocket the known easiest way to play music, but many people still prefer playing tapes and using CDs.
“Music is one of the ways I could truly express myself and personally I love CDs, and owning my favorite albums in there physical form” -Andrea Galvez
To this day many people agree that music was so much better back when you had work to play your favorite songs
“From someone who’s seen a lot of forms of music, it definitely changed over time, personally I love podcasts more, so I love playing music and podcasts on my phone” – Ms. Ludlow
Forms of music will always be changing and how you listen to them is your own personal preference in the end music is music.
