Abraham Quintanilla, father of late Queen of Tejano music, Selena Quintanilla-Pérez has sadly passed away on Saturday December 13, 2025, at the age of 86. Just weeks after the Quintanilla’s released ‘Selena y Los Dinos’ a documentary honoring Selena and her legacy. His son, A.B Quintanilla III took to Instagram to share this unfortunate news.
“It’s with a heavy heart to let you guys know that my Dad passed away today…” said A.B Quintanilla III
Abraham’s cause of death remains unknown, as A.B didn’t disclose any further details. Abraham was known of being the manager of A.B, Suzette, and Selena’s band “Selena y Los Dinos” playing a role in the rise of Tejano music and Latin Pop in the late 1990’s. Abraham has a history in music being in a band called “Los Dinos” made of Mexican Americans like himself. However, his group faced racial barriers in the sixties (civil rights movement era led by Martin Luther King jr.) and were refused by venues for being Mexican. At first, they thought they were Italian, but then they found out Los Dinos were Mexican they refused to let them play.
Los Dinos, later separated after Abraham went to serve in the Airforce. Years later he saw Selena’s talent in singing and formed a band with her brother and sister. Suzette being the drummer and A.B on bass, and Selena as the lead singer. In honor of his old band, he named the group “Selena y Los Dinos”
