In the first game of the La Joys Boys’ soccer season the lobos clashed with the North High mustangs in a close match. The JV team comes out with an early goal by number 8 on the Lobos to make it 1-0. The game was very close; both teams keeping the ball at half field making a lot of steals, crazy passes, and unbelievable shots. Coming down to the last few minutes of the half Number 5 on the lobos scored! Making the match 2-0: we were looking strong and ready to win. Past half both teams were playing strong defense and making a lot of great plays. Coming down to the last 10 minutes of the game North scores a last-minute goal to make the game 2-1. The lobos continue to play a strong defense and got the win over North 2-1.
Our varsity team came out onto the field ready to show the stacks everything they had, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to conquer the great defense coming from the North goalkeeper. As the first half ended, the Lobos held a strong control over the game; continuously shooting shots and weakening North’s strong defense. Unfortunately, our team never managed to hit their shot. With 2 minutes to spare, North High managed to hit the net making the scoreboard 0-1; cementing the win for our opponents. While this was a heartbreaking outcome for our varsity team, it’s important to remember that our JV team came through for the win and that it’s only the start of a promising season. You’ll get them next time Lobos!
