The English-Irish boy band One Direction released their fifth studio album, Made In The A.M., causing a ripple of excitement among viewers. The group consisting of Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, and Liam Payne has a large fan base of teenagers from around the globe.

One Direction fans, or Directioners as they call themselves, are known for being incredibly die-hard and dedicated to the band. Naturally, when Made In The A.M. was released before the boys plan a year long hiatus (no touring or new albums), everyone sort of freaked out.

One Direction’s fifth album was greatly anticipated and needed to meet the high standards that the previous album, Four, had left. Directioners everywhere began pre-ordering the tracks as soon as the release date was revealed. Some of these fans included students at our own school; Britney Hernandez, Denicia Alvillar and myself along with countless others.

Hernandez, a sophomore, and Alvillar, a freshman, have both been One Direction fans since 2011, a year after the band was formed. Both girls had eagerly awaited the arrival of Made In The A.M. on Friday the 13th.

“I put it in my calendar, I put it in my mom’s phone, and I put it everywhere in the house just to make sure I know and I remember,” says Hernandez.

“I was counting down the days, and then I was just waiting for it to get leaked on Tumblr just in case,” Alvillar adds.

As for the actual songs on the album, they’re much more grown up and dreamy than their last songs.

“When I listened to ‘Love You Goodbye’ for the first time, I started crying because of Louis’ high note,” Hernandez says.

The boys’ voices have certainly matured beautifully over time leaving a lot of listeners quite speechless. Without revealing too much of the good stuff, its easy to say this is One Direction’s best album yet.

“I remember getting the songs on my phone. The album is really good,” said Alvillar.
