LOL (Laughing Out Loud) is a 2008 French comedy film directed by Lisa Azuelos.
It depicts the story of a teenager girl living in Paris, her life, her drama, gossip, and first love.
We see her evolution in her life throughout basic drama of a teenage life such as bad grades, parties, boyfriend issues, her parents and her friends.
In this movie you will see a girl falling in love for her best friend, the evolution of their relation and the school trip in London.
The life of a girl trying to find herself as well as her friends, describing her feelings and her life in her diary .
The main characters are played by Christa Teret ( who is playing the teenager which is the main character ), her mother which is played by Sophie Marceau, a famous French actress ( who also played in “ La Boum” ) and Jeremy Kapone who play her boyfriend.
The movie is actually heavily inspired by “ La Boum “which starred Sophie Marceau as the teenage character
It actually also exist the American version of this movie in which Miley Cyrus, which is for me not as good.
Christa Theret received a Cesar award nomination for Most promising award in 2010.
This movie is truly touching and recomforting, as well as funny.
The best thing about this movie is that it’s really realistic at least for the French part, because the British part have been qualified of a cliché by “ The Independent”
saying that it portrayed British culture in the way it is stereotypically imagined by many French, showing a small town outside London where it “never stops raining with aged women in floral dresses carrying umbrellas. But I think this stereotypically way of showing the British life is just a way to make the movie funnier.
