The Loss of Two Innocent Lives

A car accident involving a drunk driver killed two people early morning Nov. 8.

Early in the morning on Nov. 8, a car accident on Avondale Boulevard and Buckeye road left two innocent people dead and a drunk driver is now facing murder charges.

Deputies have stated that there were three cars involved in the car accident which killed 21-year-old Jesus Torrez and 19-year-old Guadalupe Gastelum-Suarez.

MSCO deputies stated that 23-year-old Cesar Villanueva was speeding down Avondale Boulevard driving a Toyota Tundra going about 85 miles per hour which then crashed into a Honda 4 door car. The Honda was pushed to the other side of the road into a truck. The collision left the Honda car in terrible shape, leaving it with no roof and the seats torn out, glass everywhere.

Villanueva was believed to have gone about 45-50 miles per hour but authorities have stated that he was going well above that speed.

When police arrived at the scene, Villanueva had been showing signs that he had been drinking and when deputies tried to give him the Breathalyzer, he refused.

A spokesperson stated that Villanueva was charged with two counts of manslaughter and two counts of endangerment. After they determined how fast Villanueva was speeding, charges may be upgraded to second degree murder.

Officials closed down Buckeye road and re-opened it later that day.

The future lives of these two young adults have been lost forever, leaving both their families and the community devastated.
