Though Pot of Gold music festival ended days ago, the nostalgia the fans who went still feel it in their hearts and the pain if they were part of the mosh pits that went on during many of the punk band shows on the March 18th show.
However, there was many flaws during the Friday shows on the East stage, with late arrival of the first performer, Smokeurpp, he was not allowed to play which left many fans in anger and confusion on where he is. In his place, local Tempe based rapper, Mouse Powell went up to the East stage and did his thing to have fans ready for more performances later.
The owner of Luckyman concerts eventually spoke to the fans and gave the news of rapper, Action Bronson had cancelled his appearance to the show and once more, fans were very angry. Desiigner’s performance on the East stage was pleasing to some that were expecting his arrival and when he got to his famous song, “Panda” he told fans to run up on stage with him and his DJ.
Sublime with Rome was headlining the West stage and there was many fans super excite for them as much as they were for the main headliner of G Eazy for East. Friday had many people showing up for all performers, from Rastafarians to rap fans, many of them were all happy with each other and the performers.
Saturday’s shows were a very different type than Friday, with the West stage having a more alternative and indie vibe with each performance and the East having a more punk rock feel to the point of fans having circle pits to the bands like Less Than Jake and NOFX. All woman band, Potty Mouth was the first performance on the West stage and they were a great band to begin a great day and night. As more time in the heat and more bands go by, fans were beating the heat with free water and survival kits to keep them from not dying.
Then finally, it was time for the best performance Pot of Gold has had to offer, Death Cab For Cutie. As Ben Gibbered, Dave Depper, Zac Rae and the others came on stage, fans were very delighted to see one of the greatest Indie bands. With singles like “Soul Meets Body” and “I will Possess Your Heart”, fans were singing alone to many of their hits and were demanding an encore when their set was over, to the fans demands, they got the encore.
To end the festival, Irish band, Flogging Molly went and along with singing Happy Birthday to a young fan, they played their hearts out for the fans and individuals that attended the festival. If you have not been to Pot of Gold, you will find your treasure when you do go.
