From New York to London to Milan to Paris, high design fashion shows have taken over to show off their spring-summer collections for the upcoming year. “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly said in The Devil Wears Prada, the month-long fashion calendar has presented new trends on the runway we’re expecting to see throughout the warm months of 2017.
Although rising controversy from the Marc Jacobs fashion show, NYFW’16 (New York Fashion Week 2016) still delivered show-stopping looks: Ralph Lauren spotlighting leather & suede fringe and a Western inspired feel, Tom Ford serving neutral, warm-toned looks and Gigi Hadid’s boldly patriotic collection co-designed with Tommy Hilfiger. And not to mention Yeezy’s eclectic, widely-talked about runway show.
Burberry takes the main spotlight at LFW’16 (London Fashion Week 2016) with elegant prints and very subdued colors. Alexander McQueen setting the standard very high for menswear for this year’s runways with strong structures and exquisite prints.
For MFW’16 (Milan Fashion Week 2016), Gucci & Prada take the reins for the year with the most attended and talked-about runway shows with over 4 million live stream viewers. Gucci presents an out-of-this-world abstract show with Asian-influenced looks and bold colors. And Prada hits the runway with bold prints and feather boas. Lastly, Vetements brings an over sized bold style to the Milan runway.
Balenciaga brings an unruly element to the runway at PFW’16 (Paris Fashion Week 2016) , never failing to impress the French crowd. It’s all about floral prints for Dolce & Gabbana this year. And lastly, a personal favorite, Valentino ending the week off with pure elegance and silk textures.
According to NOWFASHION.com, “Gucci and Vetements still reign supreme…”. But which were your favorite collections this year? Was it Yeezy’s earth-toned hoodies? Or Gucci’s full-body fur coats?
