White hair and a mustache you could never forget. Stanley Martin Leiber is one of the most well-known comic writers and the face of Marvel, but what about his early life before fame? Stan was born on December 28, 1922, in Manhattan, New York City. He lived with his Romanian parents who were Jewish Celia and Jack Leiber on the corner of f West 98th Street and West End Avenue. Stan was enrolled at DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx. Lee enjoyed writing and dreamed of writing in the “Great American Novel”. He worked various part time jobs during his youth. Stan entered a writing competition sponsored by New York Herald Tribune and claimed to have won for three weeks. Thet eventually told him that Lee should write professionally. From 1945 to 1947, Lee lives in a rented top floor of a brownstone (soft sandstone, also known as freestone for its ability to be cut in any direction) in the East 90s in Manhattan New York City. He married a girl from Newcastle, England named Joan Clayton Boocock on December 5th, 1947. In 1949, the couple bought a house in Woodmere, New York, on Long Island, living there until 1952.
I wanted to do this because Stan Lee is my favorite comic book writer creating my favorite hero, Spider-Man.
