Well, well, well Lobos looks like you’ve made it through the first quarter of the 2025-2026 school year. Temps are dropping, Homecoming is on the horizon, and fall break is upon us so, make sure to grab a pumpkin latte from your favorite coffee shop and plan ahead on how you’re going to seize your leisure time.
While Avondale may not be the most colorful town during this time of the year there’s still so much to look forward to regarding school events. For example, our annual Hoco float parade, which involves our whole community, is the perfect reason to get out and enjoy the chilly mid-October breeze while spreading joy-in the form of candy-to the kiddos. But what’s a Hoco parade without the two main attractions of the Autumn season? The football game, and of course the Homecoming dance are perhaps the most anticipated events at La Joya Community Highschool. This year, lobos you’ve gotten a sparkle of luck, homecoming week begins October 13th and ends October 17th which is the week after fall break. How great is it to have an entire five days cleared up to prepare for this glamourous week? Time has a habit of slipping by Lobos, and if Homecoming is something you’d like to go all out for then use your time wisely.
But enough about Hoco; It’s a big town friends, and if you’re a person with more humanistic pass times then we’ve got a few activities you should check out! The Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank is a great place to volunteer during the early mornings, however if you’re keen on sleeping in a little later the Avondale Civic Center is an enriching way to spend your afternoon. Goodwill and The Society of St. Vincent De Paul are both thrift stores that take clothing donations, both great places to give to those in need. One Senior, Jesus Rodriguez Rios has a healthy balance of relaxation and business for next week.
“I plan on applying for my second part-time job but also playing video games with my friends.”
Jesus has an exemplary mindset, though the end of the quarter spells for a fun time, it’s important to keep busy in preparation for the rest of the semester. Finals are known for stressing the student body, so become one of those model students who knows when leisure time is to be enjoyed and when its meant to be proactive.
That’s all for this quarter Lobos! Have an amazing fall break and an even better mindset.
