‘The Revenant’ hit theaters on Friday, Jan. 8 and in my opinion, it was an absolute masterpiece.
The movie took place during the 1800’s and was based on true events involving a man called Hugh Glass who is played by Leonardo DiCaprio and an incident that occurs with a larger mammal. Throughout this movie the character is trying to find a settling ground, solitude, and revenge.
If you have seen the movie, you will agree that it is actual art because of the cinematography and the amazing shots of nature and wildlife. It makes it seem like you are there in real life and in real time. The whole movie was shot in extreme weather conditions like snow storms.
In a recent interview with Good Morning America, DiCaprio states that the piece of meat he ate from a buffalo was not a set piece and that it was an actual liver. He also states that the whole cast questioned themselves of why they agreed to accept this job because of what they had to go through for the movie.
In an interview with Ellen Degeneres, DiCaprio states that often 5 hours of time was spent just rehearsing the scenes and they had to shoot that scene for an hour because the director wanted the whole movie to all be shot with natural sunlight.
Through the rough days, weeks, and months, they managed to put together an excellent movie that has DiCaprio on track to win an Oscar. I highly recommend that you go watch this movie.
