West Valley has become a blank canvas for local street artists. Many locations around the community are being covered in large vibrant murals for residents to enjoy. Avondale has become the home of the most murals in all of the West Valley cities.
These artists are conveying a positive message by painting large works of art. The murals can be found on community centers, libraries, hospitals and other public buildings. These paintings also depict historical events that have affected us today. One of them being a large painting of Cesar Chavez located in the valley.
The murals have brought the community closer as a whole, the kids in the communities can come out and help these local artists’ finish their masterpiece and to also learn about the art itself. The community partake in mural walks to admire these large pieces of artwork.
A local artist Hugo Medina has expressed his love and passion for paintings and the message it sends to the community. Every opportunity he gets to paint he dives in and paints with his heart.
Another local artist Vincent Rogers stated,
“Murals are something that I’m super passionate about, and I want to do a lot more of.”
Art is a way to cover up these boring white brick walls with something beautiful that people can look at and admire.
From seeing these murals I would feel more of a connection to my community because it’s something we can all do together. This is a way for kids, parents and other residences to come together and do something that will benefit others in a positive way.
