As we go into this school year, we wonder what teachers think and how they live that life of being a parent and a teacher at the same time. Student Ashanty Morales interviewed Mrs. Williams about how long she’s been teaching at La Joya High School and what inspires her to continue teaching. Mrs. Williams is a PE teacher and tries to keep her students happy and active with the way she teaches.
Mrs. Williams is a teacher that likes to teach old school and her students are what inspires her the most. “What inspires me the most are my kids.” She strives to keep her students active and greeting them with a smile whenever she can. Student Ashanty Morales asked her, “How are you able to keep smiling and an upbeat attitude?” Mrs. Williams responded, “It’s easier to have a positive attitude.” She believes if you express cheerfulness you can project it onto other people. “As long as it projects on to other people we’re helping them smile and laugh and it just makes the day better.”
Mrs. Williams is a cheerful teacher who likes to help her students reach their goals and not want to give up on what they want to do. Mrs. Williams is always getting asked if she is coming back every year and her answer is, “Yes, I will be here at La Joya until they kick me out or until I retire.” She loves to teach and when she was growing up that’s all she wanted to do.
