A great way to be active and being involved is by volunteering. There are many ways you can help out and volunteer, whether it is school, or the community. There are many reasons why it is important to volunteer as well.
For those of you who are in NHS or just want to help out and volunteer, there are different ways in which you can help out. Places to go and volunteer at can be anywhere to be honest. The most popular place to go to is St. Mary’s Food Bank. St. Mary’s Food Bank collects food and packs them into boxes. Those boxes are then later given out to the community for those who are hungry or are in need of some food. Some ways to help and volunteer in your community is by going to a local elementary school and helping out teachers with any work they need to have done. Going to your local public library is also one of the best ways to volunteer. At school, helping teachers with any stuff that they need, like grading or rearranging books is also a way to volunteer.
Volunteering makes a huge impact on the world. When asked about what difference does volunteering make, senior Samantha Salgado said, “It makes a difference because you are helping others and showing an example to other people as well”. Volunteering helps the world to become better and creates positive energy.
Volunteering can help people out in the long run as well. After high school, all those volunteer hours that someone did can benefit in the future. Senior Juan Santos said, “Life after school is easier when you volunteer because you learn skills in many different areas. You could learn how to communicate with others, how to be on time, develop leadership skills, as well as many other helpful skills”.
Everyone needs help with things and volunteering can help those. Anyssa Loaiza said, “I believe that volunteering is important because you are able to help others when they need a helping hand. No matter how small the job is, it’s the thought that counts”. So go out and help by volunteering because you can make a change.
