Successful Story

Successful+Story

Elena Bernas, freshman student attending La Joya Community High School explains her story on why she is trying to be successful.

Elena was born in Illinois but raised in Arizona when she was 3 years old. The thing she was able to experience growing up was just traveling back and forth. She grew up with five brothers from her being the youngest. When she was going into high school she explained how she was ready and prepared because she didn’t have to worry about it as much as she thought she did. Her two electives that interest her were piano and French just because they both fall in the same category of being calm and it’s really peaceful to her.

She was asked why is she trying to be successful her responds was, “I think it’s a fun experience to go through, and I’m really just doing all of this for myself”.

Somethings she’s looking forward to this school year is just sports and some clubs she will be joining, the same way she would be and stay connected to La Joya. She explained some advice for younger kids becoming freshman’s, “Be prepare for what comes your way and do whatever it takes to pass your classes and have fun with it because you only get one year of it but mainly stay focus”. She was also asked where she sees herself in 10 years her responded was, “I really don’t know, I’m still deciding on college or military base the military is only for my dad because I feel like he wanted one of his kids to be just like him and I really want to make him proud”
